OK, just regripped my driver and like a dumbass I put it in a clamp and for some reason I put it too high on the shaft and I heard a crack as I tightened it. Anyway, I can see a hairline crack in the side of the shaft but there isn't any crease that I can feel even by running a fingernail along it.

Odds are you did crack it. There is a remote chance that you only split the paint, but it is remote (it can happen - I did it to my Fubuki near the head and it never creaked or broke afterward). You won't know unless it breaks.

had a Burner with a slight hairline...couldn't feel it, i could just barely make out a scratch in the paint... Blew that thing up on the 27th hole...Re-shaft it... When mine broke the club head with the shatter stump went flying about 30ft...luckily no one was close...
