Too much forward bend will typically put your shoulders too far forward and not stacked up well over your knees. During the swing, our subconscious mind senses the bend is too drastic and will intuitively protect the body–whether we like it or not–and decrease the amount of bend. In other words, stand up.

Why does my driver hit the golf ball towards the front foot?

When you hit a golf shot with an iron or a wedge, you need for there to be a descending blow. This is what causes the ball to launch correctly on the short irons and to spin as it should. With the driver, you want to hit the golf ball more on the upswing, and that is why it makes sense to position it towards that front foot.

If your too bent over youll stick in the ground every time (or sky it when hitting a driver). The shaft seeks a plane perpendicular to the rotation of your body (physics ldo).

I used George Gankas' philosophy of the armpits being over the tip of the knees and near the balls of the feet. Obviously, there are different ways to do it, but I generally feel that if the weight in your feet is distributed close to equally throughout each foot...then that is how much forward to bend.

How far a person bends forward depends on the torso and arm length. I always have the same posture when addressing the ball. Club length determines my distance from the ball.
