This has been discussed. As long as you match the rating/slope statistics with just the nine holes you played, the differential should calculate correctly. That is, if the rating on the course is 71.0 / 130, each nine holes will probably have a rating like 35.0 / 125 and 36.0 / 135.

I mostly play 9 at a time too. If you cannot find the slopes and ratings for the front and the back 9 (if you are playing an 18 hole course) online, call the course and ask.
