We got an EXPLANAR at my home course. For those of you who may not know about it, it is a plane training device.

Babydaddy

I think it would be great engraining an action to 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock. Above that...no. The club doesn't travel on the exact same lines from backswing to downswing. But I think it has great value from hip high to hip high. Especially engraining the takeaway.

iteachgolf

Hey I teach golf if it is useless then explain to me why it has improved my swing and game. Maybe muscle memory is an incorrect term that everyone is throwing around but something is working since I have been using the Explanar

Double Gee

For starters muscles don't have memory. You also want to monitor the shaft plane and not where the clubhead is. It needs to be 3-D the whole way to monitor the clubshaft. Plane trainers are useless in my opinion because you aren't thinking about what you are doing or educating your hands. You are simply swinging and the improvement doesn't last.
