McCredie is a career soldier, who joined the NCR Army at 16. After reaching the rank of Sergeant, he refused promotion repeatedly, in order to stay in the field, rather than behind a desk. He is also a veteran of the Mojave Campaign, present in the region ever since the NCR first entered in back in 2274.
