At 71, I am in the process of completing a changeover from regular shafts to stiff shafts. This is entirely based on detailed fittings with experienced Titleist fitters, not simply a personal desire. The modern shafts are so completely different that the specs on Trackman, etc., for me have led back to a stiffer shaft, but with a higher launch.
