PUTTING THE MYTH TO THE TEST!

A few weeks ago I ran across a product on the web called NoSlice. I had heard similar slogans and claims before…ones like, “Try our product and eliminate your slice & hook!” or “Our product is revolutionary!”. So why I decided to post anything about it in the MGS forum is just as much of a mystery to me today as it was a few weeks ago.

WHICH PRODUCTS WERE TESTED

When it came to choosing which substances we would select for our {MYGOLFSPY LABS! – Performance Enhancing Lube “MYTH”} testing we went with the ones that tended to be most popular regarding the myth. The ones most often spoke about when referring to using substances on the face of their drivers to correct a hook or a slice were:

TESTING PROCEDURE

Our testing was done with 3 golfers. Each tester would select a driver that they used for each test. They were then asked to hit 40 shots with the driver they chose before starting the test.

TESTING NOTES

While I know most people are interested in where the ball lands, I think it should be emphasized that the measure of these products’ effectiveness is really in the spin numbers.

TESTING RESULTS

Surprisingly…all of the products showed an ability to both reduce back spin and side spin and also improve accuracy, but NoSlice was the most effective….and most user-friendly. As you can see NoSlice won every category.

Wriggles

Vaseline or chapstick on the face of a driver reduces spin. Balls will fly straight down the middle, sometimes with a really odd flight pattern. A good ball striker will see noticeable more distance. An illegal practice, not advised. Could get someone punched out. I play alone a lot, and sometimes, l use Chapstick on the face, just for fun.

puttingmatt

Wax or any other substance is cheating, even dumber. is talking about it in a public place.

Pondy

I never did it but I was under the impression that wax/PAM/Vaseline, etc. was used to minimize the detrimental side spin.

Kylekoz17

I borrowed a friends driver during a scramble one time without realizing he did anything to the face. The ball fell out of the air and didn't go as far as normal. It kills spin but if you're already optimal then you're just going to hit knuckle balls that fall out of the air too soon.

Armypilot84

I tried Vaseline on my driver face for a while when I would play practice rounds. It does help eliminate side spin. I hit the ball laser straight with it, but it did produce some weird knuckle balls. Only problem is that if you put your head cover on after every shot, all the Vaseline will be wiped off in about 4 holes. It is illegal.

tdelam

I've heard of Vaseline as well. Sounds stupid. What's the point of playing golf if you're just going to cheat?

scrumpy

I used Colonite 845 on the crown, soles and the shafts. It's the same as I use on my vehicles at home. I'm not sure if its illegal to or not but I like keeping nice things, well, nice. I don't use it on the face. A guy I play waxes the face and he hits knuckleballs that drop like a duck that was shot out of the sky.
