The Etiquetteist believes that it's fair game to stand anywhere on the tee when someone else is hitting, other than in front of them (in which case, you may soon go from standing to lying supine in a hospital bed), provided you aren't standing so close that they can smell your breath or feel it on their neck.Mar 23, 2022

Where do you stand when your partner is teeing off?

There seems to be a lot of confusion about where you should stand when someone else is teeing off. Our opinion is that you are safest if you are directly in front of or behind the golfer – in other words, on the sides of the tee box.

Where do you stand on a golf tee?

Tip #4: The best place to stand is in the back right corner of a right-handed golfer or the back left corner of a left-handed golfer.

Can you stand outside the tee box?

You can stand outside the teeing area as long as your ball is within the teeing area. Before you play, you are not allowed to move the tee-markers.

What does 3 off the tee mean?

A Provisional ball, as described, is ALWAYS classed as '3 off the Tee' - provisionally! You must announce it as a 'provisional ball', otherwise it isn't provisional, so becomes the ball in play (and 3 off the tee).
