In re-reading your post though....shoulders at 2 or 2:30 seems to be very closed. Does it feel like they are pointing at 2 o'clock or are they actually pointing to 2 oclock ? Moving the ball back in stance would naturally close the shoulders so I'm good with that, but shoulders pointing 2 or 2:30...have you gone to too far of an extreme ?

Bill, I went back to the range yesterday. I wasn't hitting the ball as good as earlier in the week, but still miles better than I have in the past 9 months. I had a buddy look at my alignment and he confirmed that my lead shoulder points to 2 o'clock.

Why do my shoulders pull back?
Here's a physical reason: shoulders pulled back is tension. Tense muscles don't fire properly. Additionally, the best players in the game have their elbows fairly close together throughout most of the swing, but particularly coming into impact. Your elbows can't be close together if your shoulders are pulled back.
