I use Citristrip stripping gel. I got a HUGE container at Home Depot for $10. For the paint, I use Tamiya acrylic model paint. Doe a search, lots of discussion on this topic.

Use nail polish remover to take the factory paint out, just soak it overnight and remove any stubborn parts with a toothbrush. Use Testors Model paint for your new fill.

Acetone will work fine on this one, the paint breaks down really easy on this model. More stubborn ones, and Tal-Strip works best, but this model's translucent paint is easy to remove. As far as the paint goes, Tamiya X-acrylic is by far the best solution IMO (I've tried several brands too)and is available at most hobby shops.

You don't need any acetone or anything to take out the factory "paint." It's not actually paint, but rather a colored epoxy (which is how he achieves the "transparent" look) so all you need is a nail or something with a sharp tip to scrape it out.
