This absence of weight makes walking noticeably more pleasant, on or off the course.

What is a TL-01?

The TL-01 is the epitome of the “golf shoe that you can wear anywhere” trend. It’s a minimalist sneaker made from full grain Napa leather. What is a thintech shoe?

Golf manufacturers are, as most of you already know, notorious for developing faux technologies designed to lure gullible golfers into buying the latest, greatest, and largely unnecessary innovation with the hope that it might actually benefit their game. The thing is, the THiNTech thing actually made sense, and by many accounts it actually worked. It wasn’t long before all of the major players in golf footwear industry began releasing their own low profile shoe. Each one promised innovations beyond their competitor’s, and while those battles were being waged, almost no one noticed when startups like TRUE Linkswear crept into the marketplace. Unlike the big boys who constantly trying and one-up the other guy with Trademarks and games of techno buzzword bingo, my impression of things is that the guys at TRUE Linkswear boiled things down to a single word not usually associated with innovation; simplify.

What is the most important thing about golf shoes?

COMFORT . For me, comfort is the single most important feature of a golf shoe. If it’s not comfortable, and worse still, if it leaves your feet blistered, not a single damn thing matters after that. In fact, the answer I give beginning golfers, when they ask me what they should buy, is a good pair of shoes.

The TRUE Linkswer Eco Knit utilizes the same sole as last year’s TL-01 (review HERE ). As I noted in that review, this “spike” is slightly taller than on other TRUE soles and gives it wonderful traction . In speaking with the TRUE team, they told me that the TL-01 has become their most-worn model on the PGA Tour, which speaks to the functionality of this sole. What’s even better is that because each “spike” is larger than average, it also has better traction on everyday surfaces.

Break in periods are nonexistent, and a wider toe box means that they fit the way your foot is actually shaped.

wondering if anyone can help with sizing? looking to pickup the true linkswear vegas.. I usually wear 12 or 13 in regular sneakers. I wear a 12 in the Nike Lunar Control II. should I go 12 or 13 in these?

NRJyzr

I've found the Trues to be sized similar to other shoes I've worn. I wear size 10 in most everything, all my Trues are size 10 and fit similarly, with one exception.

I've made some post replies regarding the True Linkswear shoes that I have in my collection... read below link for my details (read the last post from my link... I'd say go up 1/2 a size):

Dpavs

From my experience with them it depends on your foot shape. Tru's to me tend to be a bit wider but shorter in length so your toes can run out of room in front quickly. So depending on how your current shoes fit, either go up a half size to a full size or not.

Fit & Comfort

I have a wide foot. It is more of a rectangle than a foot. One of the things that attracted me to the TRUE tours is the fact that they look wide. For me, the TRUE tours are true to size, although others have said that they go down a half size from normal to get a better fit. Not necessary for me but your mileage may vary.

Performance

Super comfortable on grass? I bet you can see where the performance score is going. I don’t think that I have ever walked a round in a shoe that is more comfortable than the TRUE tours . They are so comfortable to wear that there was more than one round where I just drove home in the TRUE tours rather than switching back into my non-golf shoes.

Value

The TRUE tours come in at around $150 a pair. While this is competitive with other shoes that offer the same waterproof performance, the lack of the ability to replace spikes does give me some trepidation about their longevity.

Introduction

  • One of the biggest “Wow” products at the 2019 PGA Show was the TRUE Linkswear TL-01. The reason for the big reaction was simple: its weight, or lack thereof. A light shoe is great, but footwear needs to do much more to be useful on the course. I took the TL-01 to the course to see if it was more than a one trick pony.

Performance

  • When I first unboxed the TL-01, the sole caught my eye. The “spikes” are noticeably taller than those on the Major or the TRUE Knit (review HERE). This gives the TL-01 excellent traction. Also, the slightly narrower fit made my foot feel more locked in to the shoe and the turf. Something you will feel but not see is the zero drop heel. This has been a signature of TRUE shoes – the heel is …
