Are Wilson clubs any good?

From my first shot with the 7 iron, they felt good. The feel of a well-struck shot is excellent, but switching to these after using the D9s, you definitely notice that they're true players irons and while far more forgiving than old school blades, they aren't game improvement clubs.

I would like to know whether or not i should play them or sell them to buy a new set. And how much i could sell them for.

HybridTurkey

Not really worth playing because the grips look shot and re-gripping them would cost more than the set itself. Not really worth selling either I'd say you overpaid at $19, you could use them as a display piece if you have yourself a man cave but that's about it.

Googled this because I really don't know much about it. But, it didn't seem to me that I saw much Wilson Staff equipment being sold in the "cheapo" outfits back then. Hit on a thread from Wishon Golf Technologies, which is authored by Tom Wishon, a club designer and engineer who knows his stuff. I respect his opinion immensely.

I have recently developed a bit of an obsession with the old-school Wilson Staff blades. For years I’ve been playing a mix and match set of irons that’s part Wilson bulletbacks, and part Titleist tour model blades. I finally decided I wanted a complete iron set, and snagged a set of what I believe to be ‘66 Dynapowers.

FrivolouslyWasted

Got some pics. First is one of the clubs I think is from ‘66. They don’t have the two diagonal hash marks though, so I’m not entirely certain of the model. If someone can confirm or identify.

I don't know much about Wilson clubs, but any possibility that the long iron shafts on your newer set were simply trimmed?

MikeG

Saw some in the bin at Goodwill today, bought the 7 iron S shaft, very good grip, for 2 bucks. I figured it could be a good practice club (muscle back, small blade).

MikeG

Will post photos (after daughter takes them and shows me how to the other stuff, lol) but buying more of the set is moot. The only other irons of that set are the 2 and 3, pretty sure they are out of my league!

MikeG

According to Ironfinder.com, it is a 1964 Wilson Dynapower Staff 7 iron. 35 Bucks for Good, 18 for Poor. Wish the whole set had been there!

I think these Irons were made from 64 to 66 I do know the 67s were different. I will look in the building later I think I have a 9 iron like that in some of the loose stuff
