Hey!! I'm Zach, the founder of The DIY Golfer. I created this site in 2015 while playing D1 collegiate golf to help myself understand the game of golf better and improve as a player. Fast forward a few years, and it has become much more than a journal.
Step 2
Apply a layer of paint remover to the club head and allow it to remain for 10 minutes before buffing with the steel wool. Repeat until any paint on the club head is gone.
Step 3
Apply a layer of enamel paint or wood stain to the head of the club and allow to dry. Repeat until the head has attained the desired color.

Instructions
Clean the club. You can do this with a bucket of hot, soapy water and a soft cloth. To get the sole plate clean, use a small screwdriver to run through the grooves and remove dirt.
Tips & Warnings
Always use a fine piece of steel wool on the club head to prevent marring the surface of the club. Never rub too hard with the steel wool. Always allow the paint, varnish and stain to dry before applying a secondary coat. See manufacturer specifications for required drying times.

hey, this will be my first post so sorry if it may be in the wrong topic or my questions have already been answered... i searched for it and did not finds what i was looking for. im looking for some information on how to refinish mainly irons and wedges or even putters.

Stainless irons are the easiest to refinish. Get some sanding roll strips and a file and go to town. I just finished a set of 431 stainless Wishon 752 irons and they turned out nice. I've done Ping's too.

FYI, you can't do that kind of refinishing on chrome plated irons, only stainless steel. What specific clubs are you wanting to restore?

ive kind of gotten into this refinishing thing lately and been doing alot of wedges and a few putters... right now i just clean up the wedge and paintfill to make it look nice and a bit newer. but im interested in new finishes. clubs i usually work on are vokeys. usually spin milled.

Only the oil can Vokey's can be worked on like referenced here. The chrome plating on top of the carbon steel would have to be stripped off to make the club "raw" before you could sand on the head to remove dings and the like.
