Does lengthening a golf club shaft affect accuracy?
Accuracy. As a general rule, lengthening any club's shaft will reduce your accuracy with that club. The longer the club, the more difficult it becomes to hit the ball solidly. This is especially true when the ball is on the ground rather than on a tee, since hitting the ball fat is more likely.

Lengthening Effects
Lengthening a club gives you a longer swing and, potentially, a faster swing speed. The increased speed will translate into more distance if you hit the ball squarely. But the added weight may cost you some control and make it more difficult to hit the club's sweet spot. Longer shafts also become more flexible.
Trim the Shaft
After you've decided to trim the shaft, consider whether to trim the tip or the butt end. Remove the grip with a blade if you're cutting from the butt end. Use a hooked blade on a graphite club to avoid damaging the shaft. To trim from the tip, heat the ferrule with a heat gun to loosen the glue, then cut the ferrule off the shaft.
Lengthen a Club
Extend your steel or composite shaft up to 2 inches by adding a piece onto the butt end of your club. Use the same material from which the shaft is made -- use a graphite extension piece for a graphite shaft, for example.
Install a New Shaft
To avoid cutting the shaft or adding an attachment, purchase a new shaft at your desired length. Cut the ferrule and remove the clubhead from the old shaft as you did before trimming the tip. If you wish to keep the original grip, use an air compressor to separate it from the old shaft, then pull the grip off.
How does length affect golf?
Increasing the length of a shaft has the following effect: 1 The dynamics of the shaft. The flex of the shaft changes if you lengthen or shorten the shaft. 2 The swing-weight and balance will change effectively requiring the golfer to make adjustments to the swing. 3 The lie-angle will change by forcing the golfer to stand closer or further from the ball at the address. 4 And finally the real “kicker”, control.
Why is distance important in golf?
Distance may be important, but will not win you games unless you can control the direction and flight of the ball. Control and accuracy should and will be the factor that lowers the handicap and improves the all-around performance on the golf course.

What does it mean when your golf club is flat?
Flat Lie Angle. There is a risk of slicing the ball when your angle is too flat. This means that the angle between the shaft and the ground is smaller. Once your club is too flat for your swing, the toe of your golf club will have a lower range than the heel when it should be leveled.

How to increase swing weight?
Swingweight can easily be increased by using lead tape placed at the clubhead. Lengthening a club softens the shaft a fraction while increasing the swing weight of the club. Each time you add length like half an inch will also add three swing weight points.
Why is a lie angle important?
The Advantage Of Having A Correct Lie Angle For Your Golf Clubs 1 Since golfers have different build and swing types, having a correct lie angle will help you in getting an accurate swing. 2 This is important in determining ball flight patterns, it will lessen the inaccuracy as well. Some beginners tend to have incorrect posture, so they can follow the right swing even while having an incorrect lie angle. 3 It will lessen your mis-hits.

How to measure golf clubs?
Measuring Your Clubs in Five Steps 1 Use a forty-eight-inch sturdy straight edge aluminum ruler. A tape measure is too flimsy and won’t give you an accurate measurement even if it is pressed against the club’s shaft. If you don’t currently own an aluminum yardstick, you can easily find one at a local home improvement store. 2 Don’t use your workbench to measure the golf clubs. A better alternative is to stand and place the club in its correct position at address. The sole of the club should be completely flat on the ground. 3 The straight edge should be placed so that the corner is touching the ground. The club should remain in address at this time with the ruler squaring up against the hosel. The hosel is the portion of the club where the clubhead is connected to the shaft. 4 The straight edge should be pressed as close as possible to the shaft. Now, read the measurement at the bottom of the grip cap. This should tell you the length of the shaft.
