Just wondering is there anything i can use on ping eye 2 berylliums to bring them bag to there original shiny copper look? What about copper/brass cleaner or something?

TheFlyingWASP

Please, please, please do not polish your BeCu Eye 2's. They were intended to patina to that beautiful, rich, copper brown color. Don't undo 30 years of ageing by squirting some BrassO on them. Leave them alone. Brown is beautiful!!!

TheFlyingWASP

Nooooooooo!!!!!! Don't do it!!!!! No diet coke, no lemon juice. Let them be how God & Karsten intended them to be.

Buzzkill

Don't listen to the folks about leaving the patina - it doesn't take long for it to return. Anyway, I used to cleaned/brighten mine up all the time. I'm trying to find the product - give me a moment.

TheFlyingWASP

The product you're probably thinking of is bar keepers friend. It's less harsh than Brasso or some other metal polish, but I still wouldn't do it. If you HAVE to, try the coke thing overnight, as it only takes SOME of the patina off, but not all. It shines them up a bit w/ out making them look like a pot my wife just bought at Williams Sonoma.

halliedog

I think some of these guys have been watching too much "Pawn Stars". If shining like a new penny suits your eye, go for it.

Nessism

Bar Keepers Friend (oxalic acid) will do it, but it takes some time and scrubbing. Vinegar should do it, or CLR which is phosphoric acid. I have a gallon of Metal Prep (sold at Home Depot) which is phosphoric acid, and it will eat off the patina in no time. Great stuff.
