I moved from w pa (elevation about 1100) to the sunshine state at the beach a few years ago...there is easily a one club diff in how far the irons go. fairways are firmer here as opposed to the soft fairways i used to play so am not experiencing yardage loss w. the driver.

To the OP: Moving from MD to FL shouldn't make a difference in your distances. I grew up playing in FL (mostly Tampa, Orlando, and Gainesville) then moved to MD and spent three years there. I played a lot in the Frederick area (Whiskey Creek, Little Bennett, Worthington Manor, MD National) and I hit the ball exactly the same distance both places.

What actually matters is the air pressure. So you COULD have longer distance at lower level depending on the air pressure.
