DH and I are trying to fit in a Robert's tour or ship excursion to Iao valley and Maui Plantation from 8:15 to 12:15. We then want to get to the Kaanapali Beach in the afternoon for a few hours. Is there transportation to the beach and how far a ride would it be. We have a Luau at 6PM and are trying to figure out if we can do all three.

I don't think the train takes you anywhere near the beach in Kaanapali. Roberts may take you to the beach as an add-on, but the train itself doesn't get close.

From Lahaina to Kaanapali is about a 15-20 min ride. You can take a cab, but there is also a regularly scheduled, inexpensive bus that will take you there. From the harbour area go past the banyan tree, across Front Street and you can catch the bus behind the Wharf Cinema center.

I believe it's a tourist train that takes about 35 minutes to arrive at your destination. Besides the price, the train leaves around 11:00 from Lahaina.

It does clear things up about the train and excursion. DH and I were thinking the same thing. While on the cruise, don't want to spend much time on a train ride when time is limited. Thanks so much for the info!!!
