A huge THANK YOU to this sub for recommending McGill

Have struggled with sciatica for eight years and never came across this book until this sub recommended it. And, wow. I knew bits and pieces of the information but the book had all the key missing links.

At a complete loss, in so much pain, found this sub and just wanted to post because I'm lost and in so much pain

I herniated my disc about 8 months ago and it's trapping the nerve that runs down my left leg.

I had surgery on my L5 disc today. They removed part of the disc. I'm home now. If you have questions just ask

The sciatica subreddit is a place to find support, share stories (successful or otherwise!), and learn more about this challenging medical condition.

I ruptured l4/l5 in 2004. Was in severe pain for a year and a half and couldn't play golf or participate any physical activity. After seeing 4 ortho's I decided I was willing to risk surgery. Had a microdiscectomy. Walked a pain free mile the day after. Had to wait 6 more months for my first round of golf and shot 74.

I am recovering from a lamenectomy L4/L5 on March 1 2012. Things going pretty well. Stretching is CRITICAL. I am just getting back to swinging the club and I guess it's not too bad. It does impair my ability to make a full swing without fear of doing damage. I have two Medicus clubs (driver and 5 iron) and they help me with consistent motion.

Had a double laminectomy, L3/5, 6 yrs ago and have had no problems at all and can still do all my yoga postures. Except last month i had a total knee replacement so now am in rehab but can still swing the club but walking slow and painful and probably will be for some months. Thank you Medicare.
