Just for kicks, I regripped a wedge tonight. Really poured the solvent to it (Golfsmith brand solvent & tape) and it dried completely in less than 30 minutes. FWIW .......

I just regripped a putter with a SS 3.0 and it is taking for-flipping-ever for it to dry. Usually within a hour or so it is set, but this one was sitting for well over 6 hours and still spins free. May have to pull it and try again.

Go get some paint thinner, naphtha or mineral spirits and just use a small amount. Work fast or you won't get it all the way on.

As can be deduced by the previous posts, drying time largely depends on the solvent used. (Of course, this discussion is moot for the OP since the time, and playing opportunity, has passed...two and a half years ago.)#N#Odorless mineral spirits is the absolute worst in my experience.

Thanks mate, i like your advice about seating them on the ground in future. I guess since this if the first vice-less grip application i've done, it's a learning curve. But it's reassuring to know that the grip i've put on should be fine though. Thanks again :-)

Thanks Ajlepisto, think i'm just looking for reassurance about the grip. I don't have an air compressor to blow grips on or off, so i don't know any other way to take the grip off. As it's a NDMC it's not cheap so i don't want to sacrifice it. It's a barely noticeable slight wobble right at the butt end.

Day 39: Practiced when it was too dark to record video, but did take out Mevo to get some basic ball flight info. Shifted focus to backswing for today, just to give myself a break from downswing motion which I think will benefit from some camera work once I manage to practice while the sun is up. Worked with 8-iron tonight.

I had a surreal golf experience this morning
Let me set the stage by saying, I’m an active duty Army guy with two kids under five. Needless to say I don’t get to play a ton of golf. But, I love the game and desperately want to get better and play more. Maybe this experience isn’t unique, but it was a first for me.
How to apply grip tape solvent?
The best way to apply grip tape solvent is to add it to the inside of the grip first. Then, swish it around so it covers the inside completely (the guys in the videos I’ve linked to above both do this, so don’t miss it), then drizzle the solvent out of the grip over the grip tape. This both applies solvent to the grip and grip tape, and actually reduces the amount of solvent you use. And prevents the dreaded half-stick grip which almost always means you have to cut it off and start again with a new grip.
What are Tour Velvet Plus 4 grips?
As you can see by the photo, I’m installing Golf Pride’s Tour Velvet Plus 4 grips onto my irons. These grips are called “Plus 4” because the lower hand region of the grip is built thicker to feel as though there are four wraps of tape underneath. Depending on what your preference is, you may want one or several layers of tape under your grips, either on the whole grip or the upper or lower areas. For me, even though I’m using midsized Tour Velvet Plus 4s, I still want two layers of tape under the whole grip.

Grip solvent is the right choice, and generally is non-toxic and works well enough (which I happen to be using this time). I’ve also watched some clubfitters use compressed air to apply grips. That technique works nicely, and the sound it makes is hilarious. See what I mean here.
