I just started regripping my clubs this summer and decided to go with the water activated tape, as I didn't want to get into the hassle of buying mineral spirits and having to clean it all up afterwards. A spray bottle filled with water and little dishwashing liquid works great.

I use those same strips from GS, one strip per club (unless you plan on building the size up) the nice thing about no solvents is that I often regrip in my living room, getting a little soapy water spilled around is probably making my place cleaner than when I started (being a bachelor and all) .
Feedback
I've been using water activated tape for about 3-4 years, and have never had any problem whatsoever removing old tape, even on grips 2-3 years old. Even if I did, I'd buy a tape scraper.

The durability is the same as the regular Pro V1 and V1X, which they rate at 500 hits in the press release i linked to. We have Pro V1 practice balls at our indoor facility and they have been hit far more than 500 times.

I've used it to regrip a couple times with no issues or problems at all I have seen others complain about it from time to time, but It's worked perfectly for me and I'll continue to use that (soapy water, not regular water) solution the one thing I'd say is that maybe it takes a little more time for the grips to set up after you put them on, but that's not a big deal in my world..

I've used the water activated tape from GolfWorks for years with no issues at all. I've found that using Windex instead of water makes it easier to slide the grips on. The previous poster is right - it takes a little longer for the grips to set with the water activated tape, but that's not really an issue for me.

I was thinking about regripping a few clubs and saw this option as well. How long does it take to set? How long should you wait until you hit the club?

My thing with water activated tape is that it's a PITA to get a grip back off. Ever tried removing a Titleist grip, especially if you air grip? It's near impossible without cutting the grip. To solve the solvent on the hands thing, simply wear some cheap disposable nitrile gloves (I prefer them over latex because they're powder free).

never had any problems with water activated tape and ive used it for years. i do what an above poster does and mix in a bit of windex with the water solution to help the grips slide on. the trick with water activated tape is to not use too much water.

I use that solvent that Golfworks sells. Bromptons doesnt have all the crazy fumes. It's almost like using water.

Had a set of Titleist DCI irons and the steel shafts were rusted out at the grip end. More recently, replaced the grip on a new Vokey wedge and found rust on the inside of the shaft at the grip end. In both cases, Titleist had used water-activated tape. Could there be a connection???

Solvent is needed to both lubricate as well as activate (the stickiness of) the tape so that when dry, the tape will adhere to the inside of the grip. Can you use tape solvent in grip kits?
Yes, you can! We sell tape solvent (made by Brampton Technologies) in all our grip kits. But you should know that this solvent is actually NOT the most effective liquid for re-gripping. We use it and sell it here because it is the only one safe enough to meet all California environmental regulations (where our company is based).
