i will start from the beginning. just over 2 years ago i had a 1997 mk3 golf gti 8v which i was using as a daily. i then started to notice that the body was rusting a little and i wanted to try my hand at making this car my little "project".

1. Of you broke the 4motion to use as a donor how do you split the prop from the transfer box?

benthejettaman Forum Member

sorry cant help with either of those as my engine and box was already out and also i decide the 12v 5 speed vr6 box was more suitable as it had better ratios and final drive

moorin Forum Member

thinking that way is the way togo anyways as it would be a straight fit instead of fabricating mounts etc. might aswell use mk4 cable shifter though while i have it as they are basically same length as mk3.

moorin Forum Member

as far as i know there is just the need to replace the chains, guides and tensioners etc etc near to 100,000 miles so im guessing there is still the weakness.

moorin Forum Member

True as I havent look yet but im more then certain it would be alot of pennies. And what car did the "o2a cda" come in? Should be starting on getting the dash out tonight all been well

tshirt2k Forum Junkie

Cda/dpa won't fit on the 6 cylinder engine. V5 box are supposed to be a good swap.
