I got a 2013 Golf R from a dealership a few years back and mine hits 25 psi. I know it has aftermarket downpipes and exhaust but must be chipped too? Any ideas?
Why does a turbo have a higher rpm?
A larger turbo will hold that psi to a higher rpm when the engine consumes more air and produce more HP due to higher torque at higher rpm. It won't produce more power when boost pressure is equal in the rpm band. Click to expand... Same boost pressure at the same rpm engine doesn't mean anything.

You can't simply say that. A smaller turbo will always produce more heat at a given pressure. The less heat, the denser the air, hence, more air in the motor. Also, there's less back pressure because of a larger turbine, etc...

If you're a builder, fabricator, or a "designer", whatever that means, then sit down and do the math. If you don't do the math you will always pick the wrong turbo for your engine.
