Is it possible to blow off a grip that was installed the "conventional" way? Recently started saving my own grips just using some WD40 and the grip remover tool from Golfworks, but haven't delved into the grip installation part yet, so looking to buy a compressor and the tool linked a few posts up.

Thinking of getting a compressor to remove grips... what is the standard for the pressure required ??

Depends on what type of grip you are trying to remove. If you are trying to put on or remove a 21" Jumbomax armlock putter grip on a LAGP armlock shaft, you need to go really high on the PSI.

Squirt some solvent in the end of the grip through the hole, then apply 20-30psi. Slowly start twisting the butt end of the grip back and forth, and it'll slowly come loose. Once it starts getting loose, work your way down the grip until it comes off. This can take 5-10 minutes.

I'm guessing that you can still blow them on and off with dbl sided tape? Eliminates the solvent anyway...

For airgun removal, GolfWorks recommends putting a safety tube around the grip in case it bursts. You don't want to catch a clump of high-speed rubber in the eye.

If you're removing a grip, I've found those installed with tape tend to balloon up/explode when using air pressure. I was able to get them off but they were so stretched they were garbage. And as WUTiger pointed out, they are easy to burst.

I use a trigger gun with a ball needle inflation tip to install the grip with double sided tape and solvent. I can get non-cord grips off this way sometimes, but not corded grips.

Good question. I don't have a degree in agronomy but I think it's because if the turf freezes over night and then it's thawing out in the morning footsteps can do damage. But if it's hard frozen after several days apparently you're good to go.

Removing grips is always difficult, if not impossible, with an air compressor if the grip has 2-sided tape underneath it. I use an air compressor for all my grip installs. If the golfer wants the grip built up a bit, I just use blue painters tape.

Do you have any idea whether I can use a compressor without a tank? It would save me money - less choice in the UK.
