Well, Im just 19 but Ive been through 3 different golf instructors before I finally found a good fit. The first two were trying to teach me that my swing had to be one way and look like a pros. I didn't like that, whatsoever. I tried them for a little while but ended up switching to the third instructor.

If I had to guess, I'd say I've hit about 5000 range balls over the last year. I think that would have been nearly useless without taking lessons. And, I think that taking lessons would have been useless without going to the range so much. You need to learn how to swing, but you need to put in the time if you want to get better.

Some of my lessons taught me very little. Others were GAME CHANGERS. Overall - I am glad I have taken lessons from time to time as it has made me a better golfer - but it does not make up for my acute lack of skill.

What worked for me was 4 golf instructional books, which are still my only golf bibles today, and applying myself.
