My personal opinion is that with modern turbo cars, a Stage 1, which is essentially just a flash/tuning box is fine to do it yourself as it is just flash and forget. But with Stage 2 and the number of extra parts and variables involved I'd be much more inclined to seek out a reputable tuner for the benefit of support should any issues occur.
