Is there a golf shaft that fits me best?
I called Golf Galaxy to ask about getting fitted and they said it usually costs around $150 for a full fitting but that would be applied to new clubs if I bought them at Golf Galaxy. My question is, should I get the fitting and buy new clubs right after so I don't "lose" out on the $150 or do I spend the money to get fitted and then look for either new or used clubs elsewhere that fit me?

Interesting. I think a big key for any monitor work is developing a point of reference with a club you know, as you did with your own 8-iron.

Just a note here: It will be cheaper to reshaft your irons than buy new ones. You may prefer the new ones, but from a cost standpoint it is cheaper to reshaft them since you're only paying for the shaft instead of an entire club.
