I pay about $2300 a year in tee times (~60 rounds), plus another ~$1500 for monthly lessons, maybe $200-300 for balls, so $2-5k is my answer. This year I also bought new irons and wedges, as well as a motorized pushcart, which was another $2800 so a bit over expected budget.

Id voted for 1-2k. I get unlimited play at my local 36 hole Muni for 950 walking but ride about 15 times a year when it's too hot. I usually get around 145 rounds in there. I spend maybe $300 playing other courses, play mostly found balls but do buy a few dozen on occasion. Most my clubs are second hand and are pennies on the dollar.

I changed my vote to 2 to 5 K after actually reviewing my expenditures. I golf at my local course all I want for $750 a year but I recently bought new clubs and there was the electric cart plus I do golf other courses so there are additional fees. I can justify it, though.
