Full Answer

Where is Hermann Park?

Hermann Park is a municipal course located centrally which is great for Houstonians not looking to drive out to the burbs just to drive a few balls or play a quick 18. Being a city course, it's not tip top fancy but a few steps above Melrose or Sharpstown.

Is the driving range below average?

The driving range is below average. Mats are used instead of real grass and there are very limited options in terms of flags and targets, and nothing that marks distance at all. The hours are sporadic and there are impromptu maintenance times that are never communicated except via a piece of paper on the door.

Is the club house in the golf course good?

The club house is okay but not great. The course is short and narrow. Narrow from the perspective the holes are tight and you can get hit by a ball. Because it is a park and the walking trail is close, you will be in the tee box and people are walking by making much noise. You have to learn to block that out.

Is the golf course at the middle of the tees good?

A great course for those just starting out. Holes from the middle tees are a good distance. For those of you that like to walk the course, the layout is flat and the tee boxes are close together, except between holes 1 & 2. And that distance isn't bad. You have to worry about carrying over water on 3 holes. The course is always in great shape.
