Steel shafts? Other than a swingweight scale the cost is pretty minimal. Do you have a vice? Propane or butane torch? If so, all you really need is a pipe cutter, 48" ruler, sandpaper, epoxy, ferrules, shaft holder for vice, grips and grip tape and some solvent. Steel shaft reshafting is very easy, just do a quick search.

1. Removing epoxy from shaft pulls is easily done with a drill on the inside, and heat and sandpaper on the outside.

Vice isn’t necessary but makes grip install easier as far as getting alignment right goes. Also I keep the club in the vice to remove the head and to sand down the ferrule when finishing. Keeps it in position and I rotate the club as I sand down each spot, but that wouldn’t be necessary if I had a belt sander. No need for vice for shaft install.

I am reading this thread with great interest but must say, I am very surprised at the encouragement to do it yourself. I am an amateur club maker and have done a lot of club re-shafting. I learned on my own from reading and seeking information from trained club makers.
