Are there any alternatives?
You can set up outside arrangements if you like. There are a few people in the area that will setup a delivery to Fort Wilderness so you can just meet up and get straight to cruising the fort. The price isn’t really much better until you start getting into week long rentals.
Can I bring my own?
Of course! There are private cart rules you need to follow, but as long as it is a golf cart style, not off-road/atv or utility/construction-type cart and it doesn’t have a maximum speed above 20MPH you’re good.
How fast can you drive a golf cart in Fort Wilderness?
Follow all posted speed limits and general rules of the road. Carts may not exceed 20 mph and must yield to pedestrians and bicycles.
How many parking spots are there at Fort Wilderness?
While you are exploring the campground, be aware that there is VERY limited parking for passenger cars. If I recall correctly, there are only 3-5 spots at the trading post (store) and almost no other parking for regular cars at any of the other amenities.
What mobility devices are allowed in Fort Wilderness?
Fort Wilderness does allow the use of Electronic Personal Assistance Mobility Devices (EPAMD’s) on sidewalks and roadways. This would include electric mobility scooter and segways. They are not permitted on roadways and must yield to larger vehicles and pedestrians. Bicycles may be used on roadways, sidewalks and cart paths, but those under 16 MUST wear a rated helmet as per Florida State law. Bicycles are available for rental at the Bike Barn.
How far away can you park a golf cart from a campground?
Depending on where your site is, you could be more than a mile away. While the internal campground buses are very efficient, there is plenty of golf cart parking at the transportation center and nothing beats hopping on the cart and driving directly to your site.
How big is Fort Wilderness?
Fort Wilderness is a very large campground. Even when comparing it to other large campgrounds, Fort Wilderness is HUGE. It is nestled on 750 acres just off of Seven Seas Lagoon. The campground is about 1 ½ miles long and ½ a mile wide. It features 20 camping loops (about 800 campsites) and 8 Cabin loops (about 400 cabins).

When you make a reservation, you can request a 6-person Golf Cart but please remember it is only a request. The Cast Member wanted to be sure I passed that along because they do not have very many 6-person Golf Carts and they would not want you to be disappointed.
