Should I Sell my golf clubs to a PIAS?
I have found that if the owner is a golfer, they tend to carry more golf equipment then anything else. That being said, I am sure every PIAS would love to get their hands on pro style clubs, however as you mentioned, they are not paying top dollar for it. If you want more for your clubs, you can always consign them.

I’ll be interested to hear your report on actual offers they make for your older equipment. Should I keep my old golf clubs?

Are 30 year old golf clubs still good?

Yeah, that's what I've already tested with the G700 wedges I showed him, which he offered $45 for. As a reference, GlobalGolf.com offers $52.50 for my G700 wedges, so honestly that's not that bad of a trade off, in comparison.

PIAS is a great place to find some treasures at good prices. You're trading time for money taking your clubs there, and that makes sense for some people. Seeing as how I just keep old clubs in my garage, I suppose that's an even worse deal.

B). I’ve done consignment before (on a pistol) and it took them 5 years to sell it and the cash they paid me wasn’t much more than just getting a check five years ago.

I know that a lot of the Play it Again sports stores are individually owned (at least I think they are?). Can you haggle over price? I've never tried since I don't know if you can...

Oh yea. Never ever pay sticker. Unless it's 009 $99. Then you just pay the guy and run to the car ! I trade and or get discounts every time
Medic
In my experience it depends on what they are offering. If they know that there is demand the sticker price is probably non-negotiable. Find something not quite as popular and they will be glad to work with you.

Its very much a store to store issue. Some stores expect it, other stores seem almost offended. Im fortunate the two stores i frequent most often are very reasonable, the one store that wasnt has since closed. Take that Scrooge.

Hm. Thanks for the info. I have paid sticker on a few things. They were item that I wanted to try and they weren't horribly overpriced. If I had known I probably would have tried to negotiate the prices down a bit. Oh well. Live and learn!
