I've wondered as to the why of having two different ages. When we hit that 50 mark, lots of stuff seemingly just starts to happen, that can curtail golfing dreams. But I'm one of those that have lost almost all respect for the USGA and their, lets say less than stellar rules deportment.

If I remember correctly, the age for all senior golf was 55. Then, some guy named Arnold Palmer turned 50 and the USGA wanted to give the US Senior Open a bit of a boost, so they lowered the age for it to 50.
