Bayside Golf Club is a family built and family owned public golf course and is the product of owners, Bonnie Nemecek, Cliff Brown, & Jason and Suzy Hiltibrand along with world-famous architects Dan Axland and Dave Proctor who had a hand in designing such legends as Sand Hills Golf Club in Mullen, NE and the rebuild of famed Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, CA..

When did Oakland Golf Club close?

In 1952, the Oakland Golf Club disbanded and the course survived as a city-run public course for another nine years. Most of the course was developed into 600 units of tract housing, with the remaining 14 acres slated for Benjamin N. Cardozo High School and 35 acres for a college campus.

When was the first game of the Oakland Golf Club?

In 1896, the 180-acre Lawrence property was transformed into the Oakland Golf Club and its first game was hosted on April 10, 1897. From its early years, the club welcomed women as members and staff. The club’s membership included powerbrokers Bernard Baruch, Robert Wagner Sr, and highway promoter Horace Harding.

To round off the list of great city courses gone missing, look upon another tree that currently sits in front of 230-41 28th Avenue, just north of Bayside High School. If the tree goes back about 60 years, it would have stood next to the wonderful green complex of the 16th hole at Dr. Alister MacKenzie’s Bayside Links.

Which golf course was designed by Devereux Emmet?
