As mentioned, If I'm travelling with clubs, that stuff would go in the bag. But not right out in an easy spot to be taken if there are any nefarious handlers. Hidden pocket, deep in the ball pocket, etc... But if you take it on board in a carry-on, why not have the manual with it.

I have flown from Vegas to DFW 4 times with my lazer range finder in my carry on. It's been searched every time, with no issues. They did turn it on, and look through it. They seem to be more concerned with my lap top. I keep the laser in my carry on because I don't trust baggage handlers.

Thanks all! My golf bag is always thoroughly searched in that my clubs are always put back in my bag incorrectly. I can't help but think that a range finder would be too much of a temptation for those looking to swipe electronics. As for wrapping it in the instructional manual well, that pamphlet is no longer in my possession.

I put mine laser rangefinder and my Skycaddie in my carryon bag that also contains my laptop. I have asked them before if they wanted me to take ALL electronic devices out and the answer has always been "no, only the laptop". Never had any issues at all and I fly multiple times each year with my clubs and golf electronics.
