It sounds like the clutch is not releasing fully, or you are not being patient enough. When you press the clutch, it DOES take time for all of the heavy steel gears to stop spinning. I suggest you get a diagnosis from a mechanic. Failure to reasolve will damage the other synchros and round the gear tips.
