How much do tires affect the ride quality of a car? - reddit
Bouncing the fender on a vehicle equipped with struts is NOT a valid test for struts. Shocks, yes. Struts, no. Unless the strut has lost all its fluid, just about any worn strut will "pass" the bounce test.
Why does my car ride so rough? - Car Talk Community
I purchased a 2014 Toyota Corolla Le Eco Plus last May. The car rode FINE for a few months, but then I began to notice that the ride feels completely rough/harsh. It’s almost like a jittery feeling. After researching I’ve found reviews that said “the Corolla’s ride is harsh and unpleasant,” but to me it feels like it’s gradually getting worse. That has me thinking something is ...
How Can I Make My Car Ride Smoothly? | It Still Runs
New body bushings -- if you have an old body-on-frame vehicle -- will help isolate the chassis from vibration. Double-stacking an extra set of rubber isolator rings on top of your coil springs can make a difference; slather both of them with a healthy coat of bearing grease to ward off irritating rubber squeaks.
Steering, suspension and ride comfort
Without the optional adaptive dampers we mentioned earlier, no selectable drive modes to flick through, no lowered sports suspension and no optional variable-rate steering, our test car was pleasingly straightforward to drive.

What happens when a strut mount wears out?
Similarly, the mount attaching the upper strut to the car’s body can also cause noise and vibration when worn out.
1. Replace Any Worn Out Shocks
While the shocks and struts on a golf cart shouldn’t need replacing for several years, if you have an older golf cart that has been used constantly throughout its life, this is a good place to start trying to smooth out its ride.
2. Fix the Faulty Tire Pressure
With a lot of other bells and whistles drawing their attention, it is not uncommon for a golf cart owner to overlook the tire pressure on their golf cart. However, when the golf cart tire pressure is less than ideal or overpressured it can cause serious side effects to the cart’s overall performance.
4. Replace Worn Out Suspension Bushings
A suspension bushing is a small rubber pad that is integral to your golf car’s suspension system. When force is applied to your cart’s suspension system, this bushing absorbs some of this force and pressure and displaces it. This function results in a significantly smoother ride.
6. Add a Lift Kit to your Golf Cart
If you have a really bumpy ride and ride off paved roads a lot, you may benefit from a lift kit to provide a better suspension than stock and provide more ground clearance.

Why would you want to order 19" wheel? If your wife is going to do all the driving, IMHO 18" would suffice & without a shadow of doubt it would have a more compliant ride than 19" wheel. With ACC fitted on 18" the ride would even be better. That is just my opinion!!

Well, I recently did a run down the A14/A12 in Drive/Comfort mode at about 80mph on what must be one of the bumpiest, least maintained major roads in the UK and the car was effortlessly comfy, smooth - in fact, most Mercs I have owned in the past (admittedly all AMGs) have all been pretty wearing on balls and bum. Of course, a Rolls-Royce Phantom would undoubtedly be comfier, so perhaps you should go for one of those .

I should add that my R has leather seats and 19" wheels. I didn't fancy the Recaros at all - they look boy racer to me and probably painful over long distances.Â
Guest p3eps
I have both 19" wheels and ACC. I find the ACC is good for switching to Sport Mode and firming the car up - but I feel that the Comfort Mode offers little difference from Normal.
Helmi
the chaps covered the R side of the story and all "technical" details.

Personally, with your buying criteria in mind I would advise you opt for 18", ACC and normal leather seats. Â

I've got the 19s and DCC, but I would not choose DCC if I could change it, I just don't think the ride is hard or bumpy even in sports mode. It might be because I'm comparing the Golf to my other cars, a Clio '99 and a Mondeo estate '95...
