Choose a tournament you want to join and press X to view more detailed info on the course, press Book to sign up for the tournament. You must now wait until the time the tournament is listed at to start. Once the tournament starts you can choose characters and gears, though you may be limited depending on the course rules.

Shot Mode: Found to the right of the Shot Gauge. Displays the current shot mode you are using. Ball Condition: Found on the bottom right corner. Displays a large ammount of information about the ball. 1. The two bars on the top and right of the ball (Blue and Purple) tell you how much the ball will spin depending on the current slope of the ball.

Stage 2: Play Through Challenge Mode
The bulk of your game time will be spent in this mode. First available to you will be the "Beginner Rank" with 5 different tournaments and 1 VS mode tournament. After winning each event you will be awarded a star for that event. There are 30 tournaments in total along with 7 VS games and 7 VS 2 games.
Stage 3: Complete Challenge Mode (With Crowns)
Complete the Challenge mode again - but this time go for the Crown instead of just the star.
Stage 4: Increase Everyone's Loyalty to Max
Playing a specific person will raise their loyalty from 0 to eventually 4 (MAX). Each level of loyalty brings additional benefits that are exclusive to that character.
Stage 5: Buy Everything in the Shop
This will be partly accomplished as you play in Challenge mode and will probably be finished last on your 'checklist'.
