How does Golf Buddy work?
For Golf Buddy veterans, this feature is a given but still relatively unique in the GPS world. Here is how it works: Turn on the GPS and forget about it. In just a few minutes, the course will be recognized and will move through the holes seamlessly. Every so often you may have to manually change the hole number if you play a course where the fairways are close together or in an odd configuration, but it happens rarely and not a big deal to toggle to the next hole.

How much does a Platinum case weigh?
The Platinum fits comfortably in your hand and weighs in at 5.65oz. It has enough weight to it though that you can tell it’s well made. The case is shock and water resistant but I wouldn’t recommend bouncing it off the rocks and into the pond. Technology hasn’t advanced that far, yet.

I had the same problem , I sent for a battery and was sent the battery for the platinum which was cheap but different as there is harness across the original battery , so I cut the wires of the harness and trimmed them and tinned them with a soldering iron , I then tinned the contacts of the battery I was sent and then soldered the wires to contacts , Red to positive , Black to Neutral , white to middle , making sure none of the contacts are bridged and separate , then with a heat gun I melted a little blob of plastic over the connections to seal them , I plug it in and hey presto it worked and charged , I will Let you know how long it lasts after a few charges.

I've been trying to find some information on how to get at the battery in the Golf Buddy Platinum (white) model. All indication are that you have to send it back to golf buddy to get it changed and all indications are that it is very expensive to get done.

I took mine to two local battery replacement shops and they both took the back off and handed it back to me and said they couldn't help me. I gave up on it and bought a Garmin. YMMV.

Thanks for your response. I couldn't find any information on replacing the battery on the Golf Buddy II Platinum (white) so I took it upon myself to take the back off and remove the battery.

I just saw your post this morning. Once the screws have been removed, use a jewelers screwdriver to gently pry around the joint between the case and back cover and it will easily pop open.

Most consumer devices that use lithium batteries have a built in protection board to keep them from overcharging and exploding and catching fire. That is why the company doesn't want the consumer tinkering with it. If you don't properly install the proper batteries you might have issues. I am surprised that GB even sold you the battery.
