I think Citristrip Gel is by far the best. It is way more effective than acetone and there are no toxic fumes. Just dab it on areas of paint you want to remove and let sit overnight and you'll probably only need to wash it off or just some light toothbrushing to get the paint out. It's super cheap and can be found at Walmart.

I used Rustoleum Auto Stripper spray, that I picked up at AutoZone for $7. I sprayed it on my Callaway X-Forged wedges, and within a matter of seconds, the stock paint fill started to bubble and lift up. Just be sure to mask anything plastic (ferrules, badging, etc), because it will do a number on those things.

Paint stripper will take the black off a Scotty with no issues. Acetone will get most paint off, but to remove the finish, what everyone has suggested as far as paint stripper will work.
