We used to do a best ball tournament in my neighborhood. The teams would mix good golfers with the not so good ones. It worked well since the players that weren't as good still enjoyed the day because the better players carried the team.

I was in a similar situation a few months ago. I was in charge of planning a round of golf for a guys trip in Phoenix and the group included guys that play once a year or worse.

But my dilemma is I respect the game too much to make a drunken mockery of it.

I have the dubious task of organizing a bachelor party golf tournament! Sounds fun, right? Pretty much the whole crew is 20 plus handicaps with one guy who has never teed it up in his life. Could be painful. It seems like the thing to do would be a scramble. Does anyone have any games/tips or ideas that could move things along and make the day fun.

I did one of these a few yearsa go for a buddy. We found the WORST golf course in the area. I called ahead to the owner and told him what I planned to do.

Maybe you could just play 9 holes so you're not stuck on the course for the whole day? A scramble is probably a good idea with maybe the party piece playing on his own but he'd be able to buy mulligans by drinking a shot or a beer (or deduct shots by having a drink before teeing off at the next hole)? You could start off with some kind of a range session/competition with big break-like challenges and beer/shot rewards? Then the time at the course wouldn't be too short even with only 9 holes.

I played in a bachelor party round once, best advice I could toss you...find a empty course or a day that your usual course isn't busy and try not to let them pass the 'buzzed' level...I'm not saying your buddies are like mine, but I was a bit embarrassed a few times by the behavior of my buddies. The cart girl does not provide lap dances...First rule Keep your shirts on...Second rule There's more, but I'll leave it at that. Have fun! -D.

Ours lasted about 5 hours. We had the hole course reserved so there were no marshalls, If you're going to do a bach outing and get crazy, again, call ahead...and find the worst goat track possible. They will welcome the busines. I forgot to say that we paid double the round rate to the guy.

Could you not just go to Vegas or Atlantic City or Montreal, murder a prostitute or two and call it a weekend? If it must be golf. I'd suggest a par 3 or executive course.

Please don't come to the course I'm at. Nothing like a bunch of jerks ruining my enjoyment. I hate A-holes on the golf course.
