Wedgie

I mentioned this in another thread but figured I start a new one. I started wearing progressive lenses about three years ago and could never wear them to play golf. There was too much distortion, I hit everything fat and putting was just off when I wore them.

The Mad Hacker

Wow, great info, Wedgie! I wear progressives as well and had not heard of this option. Amazing some of the stuff you can learn on MGS. Thanks for posting!

fixyurdivot

I've worn progressives for about 7 years now and not found them to be an issue for golf. These may offer a solution for those who do find them problematic.

TR1PTIK

I don't wear progressives, but as someone who does wear glasses and CANNOT STAND THEM, I applaud you for sharing such good news with fellow golfers who might not be aware of golf specific lenses (I certainly wasn't).

juspoole

Nice to hear they're going well thus far. I usually wear glasses for work (staring at screen), but other than that do not need them. I find that I do putt better when I have contacts in and get a clearer picture of the track I want my ball to roll on, but my eyes get too dry that it creates more discomfort.

There must be some folks out there who wear bifocals when they play golf. Has anyone tried progressive lenses instead of lined bifocals? How have they worked out? Or haven't they?

Swordfish

I have progressive lenses and I can't golf with them. I also got transition lenses hoping that I would be able to. The problem I have is finding the proper angle so I can see the ball clearly throughout the swing with the progressive lense.

Miss Shanksalot

This is my problem exactly. My head moves in the backswing and then everything swims out of focus and I can't "compute" things quickly enough by the time impact comes. It's very disorienting.

leoh923

I used to change from my progressive glasses to a pair with straight distance lenses when I played. About 2 years ago, I got new glasses, and was determined to not be switching all the time. After about 2 rounds, everything was perfect. I didn't need to remove my glasses to read a scorecard, distance vision was fine.

NEOHMark

I played with progressive bifocals for about five years before I finally had LASIK surgery a little more than a year ago.

allin

I and a number of people I play with wear transition bifocals. Only one of us plays golf in their bifocals. I play wearing a pair of single vision sunglasses with my distance only prescription.

NEOHMark

One other thought, Kim. For whatever reason, I always felt my polarized-lens sunglasses (which were progressive bifocals BTW) always kept things in a little crisper vision than my regular progressive lens glasses. Even on really cloudy days, I'd often wear my sunglasses instead of my clear glasses when golfing.

Huffy2k

I too wear progressive lenses and have given up on wearing them when golfing. I'm in the process of getting distance only contact lenses that I will wear instead of the glasses.
