Would like to hear people's thoughts on power steering or manual set ups please?Im currently running power steering but im having nothing but trouble with it, rack leaks, hoses corroded and pump now noisy. The manual set ups are a load cheaper and i was tempted to go to manual steering (i have driven a manual racked mk2 before but it was a while ago)Any thoughts?.

yeah its a daily. The other one i had was a daily too that was manual rack. The mk2 i have now is a daily im just getting a bit sick of it as its costing a fortune, a new rack and pump would really only bee the only way i woul dknow that it was an ok set up.Ive bought 2 pumps in the last 2 weeks both off ebay and both have been crap really!

Manual all the way, have a PAS in my daily GTI and it's a bloody pain. Wet weather constantly plays havoc with it and the steering tightens up when you want to turn. I'm just about to wreck another water pump as tightening up the belt to get the PAS working properly seems to put too much pressure on the water pump and ruins the bearings.

Having owned both I prefer pas on a mk2. Parking is not a problem with the manual steering but I just prefer the feel of pas.
