The great thing about stainless steel putters (most new Scotty Camerons) is the fact that after refinishing them, they don’t rust! Here is the most basic finish you can do on a stainless steel putter, and it looks clean and awesome.

Clean the club. You can do this with a bucket of hot, soapy water and a soft cloth. To get the sole plate clean, use a small screwdriver to run through the grooves and remove dirt.
Tips & Warnings
Always use a fine piece of steel wool on the club head to prevent marring the surface of the club. Never rub too hard with the steel wool. Always allow the paint, varnish and stain to dry before applying a secondary coat. See manufacturer specifications for required drying times.

How to cover a golf club that is not painted?
Use masking tape to cover those areas that do not require painting. Spray a very thin layer of etching primer to the club. A thick layer could cause the primer to drip down and form an uneven coating. Ensure that all areas requiring painting have been covered by the primer.
