Negative on the heat gun. It puts MORE heat into the adapter and shaft than a torch. Use a torch and heat for 5 seconds and then pull off adapter.

I use the screw, if removable, and a washer in the adapter end along with the shaft puller. I apply heat using a heat gun and not a torch.

I've tried several times before with my M2 driver to remove the adaptor without melting the plastic ferrule to no avail. Anyone had any luck removing the adaptor in a way that the adaptor can be reused on a different shaft?

Heat gun is a must here, I have been able to save many of ferrule by wrapping it with a wet cloth while applying heat to the tip.

Heat shield paste and wrap with a wet paper towel. Use a heat gun and keep pressure on it. As soon as it moves remove the heat, push the adapter off and immediately toss in a cup of cold water to quench the heat

I recently purchased a Tour Edge EXS 220 driver and was trying to replace the shaft and adapter with an aftermarket shaft and adapter made for the EXS 220 driver. However, the adapter is now stuck within the driver head.

Is that the adapter of the shaft you tried to pull stuck in the head? Also is there a reason you didn't remove the head before you pulled the shaft out of the adapter?

This was an aftermarket adapter. I was able to remove the original adapter and shaft. I was planning on keeping the original and have two shaft options to test.
Feedback
Only suggestion I have would be to remove the screw and use a steel rod and hammer to try and get it out.
