Im not a clubmaker and Im certainly not an expert, but I can say with relative certainty that yes I qualified clubmaker can swap tips. Some tips will go up further on the shaft so you might have some tip prep area exposed. Ping adapters seem to be shorter in length compared to others (Ive heard that) so that is why I mention this.

A small torch is the proper tool. Only use a heat gun if you have an accessory tip that funnels the air down into a small outlet port. Your typical wide mouth air gun outlet port spews heat out over a much wider area than desired, so MORE heat will go into the shaft than ideal.
