Not only are the difficult to adjust, but it was difficult enough to the point that when tightening the strap on my left shoulder two weeks ago the buckle the strap goes through snapped! I got the bag at the end of June and can now only use it as a single shoulder.

Yes. One of the features on the last several versions of bags is a removable strap system. It really helps the caddies to carry double bags without the dual straps getting in the way. You just disconnect both and then pull one out of the plastic cross-support and then reinsert the right or left strap you prefer to use.

Check out the Linksmaster series. These have both a single strap and backpack strap that are interchange able. They use metal hardware that make switching between them very easy.
