Can you drive a golf cart on the beach in South Padre Island?
Having traveled to other locations that allow carts on the beach (I.e port Aransas) I mistakenly assumed you could do so in South padre also. Wrong! The golf carts are only allowed on the streets and must follow all of the same rules/laws as any other motor vehicle (including seatbelts, blinkers, etc).

How many nights do you have to rent a golf cart?
One rental golf cart is allowed per site. There is a two night minimum to rent a golf cart unless it's a holiday. Holiday rentals are a three night minimum. Golf carts must be paid in full when booked. All drivers of golf carts must be 16 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license.
How much does a golf cart permit cost at a campground?
You will also need to purchase an annual permit to use your golf cart at the campground. The cost is $40 and the permit is good for the entire calendar year. The permit must be displayed on your golf cart at all times. Golf cart permits are non-transferable. All drivers of golf carts must be 16 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license.
Can you bring a golf cart to a campground?
You are welcome to bring your personal golf cart while camping with us. We ask that you provide us with a copy of your insurance on the golf cart showing that you have liability insurance of at least $50,000. You will also need to purchase an annual permit to use your golf cart at the campground.
Where do I rent Golf Carts?
At the Registration Station (by the gate). If you like to plan ahead, you can do it at the time of your reservation, either by phone or online.
