ive heard people saying to spray the inside on the spikes with wd-40 or silicone spray prior to installing the new spikes. It helps down the road when trying to remove old spikes. Is that true?

I have a pair of these shoes. I went to replace my spikes last week and one was so badly in there that when I finally did get it loose, it actually twisted the entire screw well out. So now there was a big hole in the bottom of my shoe where you couldn't even screw a new one in there.
