Agree on kickdown point. I use manual far more now I realise that I can be cruising in 6th and kickdown straight to 2nd or 3rd without having to work my way down over 3 or 4 seconds. Makes it much more practical to have the additional control the rest of the time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

As you'll have read above, the DSG is actually two manual gearboxes, one with 1,3,5 (+7 in the new FL) and one with 2,4,6 (and R? Doesn't matter for the purpose of this discussion), and two clutches.

Yep, you're still in manual mode, you've just used kickdown to allow you to block shift like you would on a manual gearbox.

I've had no WTF moments in a FL DSG over 4000 miles of mixed driving so assume the new box is quicker.

When to tune DGS?
You need to tune DGS, Shuddering /hard shift comes when Torque limit in DSG vs ECU is pass.
Is there a fault in Burger Motorsport?
There are no faults present. I do tuning for Burger Motorsport and we have had a few 7 R's that shudder. Some can go to the dealer for reset but it would help if I knew the VCDS procedure.
Do IDE numbers need to be revised?
The IDE numbers in the above procedure may need to be revised due to the recent VCDS dataset revisions but the text descriptions should be identical. Based on my personal experience I would consider this Basic Setting procedure successful but there are a number of additional Basic Setting groups that need to be tested.
