How to cut and skin a deer?

Do not skimp on this task: Cut down to the brisket, remove the heart and lungs, and also crack the pelvis. To hang your deer you'll need to start with it in the back of a truck. With your buddy driving and you standing in the bed, back the truck right up to the tree. Now tie off your first length of rope to the load-bearing branch using a Two Half Hitches knot or Bowline knot (if you don't know these, get familiar; they're simple). Stretch the rope tight and, with your buddy's help, lift up the deer's neck and tie a Bowline knot around the area just below the skull. Bowlines are great for this task: They can be tied with one hand and will hold steady when under tension. Be sure to check your knots twice before standing aside to oversee the next step. Have your buddy slowly pull the truck forward with the tailgate down until the deer flops down and hangs by its neck, swinging back and forth. This is the perfect, safe, hands-free way to check your rope and knots.

How to get a golf ball to look like a stressed out eyeball?

Place the golf ball in the center of the excess hide and squeeze the skin tight, firming up that ever-important connection between the two. Now tie the rope around the extra hide at the bottom of the ball . For this you can also use a Bowline. Pull it as tight as humanly possible until the golf ball looks like a stressed-out eyeball protruding from the socket.

I read about this method, and also a friend of mine does this. You somehow use ropes, a golf ball, and your ATV to skin a whitetail. We always just hung them and peeled.. it is pretty rough, but.. does anyone use the ATV method?? I want to be prepared for this hunting season!

not an ATV, but a truck bumper or tailgate. You have to make sure you skin all around the legs and neck and if you forget one part the horns may break into. Seen it happen once and it was funny to see this guys eyes light up when the deer horns busted right before him. He forgot to finish the cut all the way out on one leg.

I've done it a few times the nice part about it it keeps a lot of the hair off the meat. Like elkevo I used my truck and you do need to make sure everything is cut. I seen my dad do one and he forgot a cut, the neck streched out to about 4 feet long then the head snaped off and he ended up dragging through the dirt behind the truck.

LOL.I told my hunting buddy about it and he pulled his porch off the house,of course he didn't have the right cuts,it was so funny but done right it works, his wife was pissed...we still laugh about it.

i am with you perry, i actually made a hoist that slides into my receiver hitch on the truck, it gets them off the ground via a gambrel and lets it happen quick enough to suit me.
